- Appeal: Butterflies Magnolia gets its name from its beautiful flower blooms that emerge in early spring with bright yellow flowers that resemble butterflies perched on the trees branches. These yellow flowers can be 4 or 5 inches in size. This is a deciduous magnolia tree that is an excellent specimen tree to add to any landscape.
